Since the release of Rob's "Blogging To The Bank" (version 1.0 that is), he's been flooded with thousands of emails telling him of the success people have had applying his techniques on the internet.
We all know that things can change rapidly on the Internet and how a simple change like the Google Slap can turn smooth running profits to nothing overnight.
Rob is all too aware of this and has been working on how to make blogging a more sustainable and long-term income stream. In his book he tells of his trials of developing a blueprint of how to research keywords for your niches, creating a blog (as well as where to host it), content creation, optimizing your blog and generating the traffic you require to become a success.
What we found most interesting is that Rob recommends outsourcing some of the content creation to companies that specialise in the field of writing articles! Although it sounds daunting the math does work out in the long run in your favour. This is definitely an avenue even we at OpinView haven't quite fully explored. Of course, you can always write your own content. However Rob claims outsourcing provides a fantasic means for content to be uniquely written as well as cost effective - his recommended content creator is www.rentacoder.com.
Another aspect which Rob shows in his book is the arrangement of the blog page. We found it cool because it's just like a marketing tutorial! It's like, "Place this at eye level for 3 year olds so they can see the bright colours and pester Mom to buy it for them." There's a diagram of how to place additional monetization tools like Adsense and content to best attract the reader.
Rob's book is really easy to read. Again, we covered it in about a few hours and tested it on Blogger.com to see if what he said is actually do-able - and it is! There are some odd bits which will require some knowledge of HTML but for the better part it is geared towards a beginner.
All-in-all this is not a bad book for someone with an interest in blogging and wants a blueprint for how to make money blogging. It contains good content on how to generate backlinks through social sites as well as different methods to promote your blog.
We definitely recommend Blogging To The Bank 2.0.
Check it out before you miss the boat!

As technologies change, communications change. For a while, blogs were considered the hottest new form of communication. What about blogs is innovative? Does blogging work? Are blogs really going to be the mode of communication for the next hundred years, or are blogs simply a flash in the pan?
To give you an idea of where blogs fit in the scope of communication, I’ve sketched out roughly how communication had developed over the years.
One to Few
--Before the printing press, communication was essentially one-to-one. Though books would circulate, there was a small literate audience, and books were not mass-produced.
One to Many
--The advent of the printing press made books a form of one-to-many communication: an author could reach an audience of thousands in one print run. This was considered the normal form of communication with other technologies, including tv, newspapers, radio, and film. One person (or a select group) would create a message, which would then be transmitted to a wide audience.
Many to Many
--New technologies encourage many-to-many communication. Blogging is a forum where anyone can author. Wikis encourage vast participation. This could be considered a democratization of knowledge production, because many people can now produce, but there is also a backlash because some people are worried about the validity of the sources that they read.
Blogs
--Some blogs are of interest to a large segment of the population. Other blogs, my CEO blog at www.jimestill.com, have a more specialized audience. But even smaller blogs are out there where people write only for their friends (these are not linked to, and many blog writers do not expect anyone else to read their blogs except for friends). Though the Globe and Mail says that blogs are being abandoned at a staggering rate, Perseus claims that the majority of blogs are written by teenage girls and update twice a month to keep in touch with friends and family. This is not to say that many blogs are not being abandoned regularly, this is often the case, but I just wanted to put things in perspective.
You must take it with a grain of salt that over a million blogs have been created, and after the initial post, there is no more updating. This can hardly be considered an abandoned blog, because it’s not even quite a blog in the first place. These blogs—one-entry wonders and teenage lifetools—are quite different than the blogs I read each day and the blogosphere that I interact with. It seems to me that if these are being abandoned, we have to assume that it is simply growing pains, and not a sign that blogs will no longer be viable communication tools in the future.
Blogs, it seems, have staying power as a mode of communication, as long as the writers have staying power as a mode of writing. Though individual blogs may come and go, blogs in general will continue to influence popular news source

If you have an online business, you know how hard it is to get Internet traffic to stop and give you a look. If you’ve been searching for a new way to bring attention to the products or services you are offering, have you considered a blog?
Blogs, in spite of their somewhat mysterious name, are really miniature websites. As an online business owner, you’ll feel right at home with a blog. You’ll become a “blogger”, and your input to your blog will be called “posts”, with the older posts being moved off you blog’s front page as newer ones appear. You can use software to help you create your blog, and let your readers participate by posting their own comments, which become part of your blog’s official content.
Your blog can be about anything you choose. Blogs began as private affairs between their authors and cyberspace, and many bloggers still use them as substitutes for leather-bound diaries or journals.
But blogs have now come to serve other purposes, both individual and corporate; and a blog is a perfectly acceptable tool for you to employ in promoting your online ventures.
As a novice blogger, you will be joining the Blogosphere, the Internet community of diehard bloggers who have their own culture, complete with ways to identify you as an up-and-coming, reputable blogging superstar. The point of this article is to show you how you can blog your way to online business prosperity, while becoming a valuable member of the Blogopshere.
The Blogoshpere has established a “code” to which you must adhere if you are to expect any success. The first tenet of the code is that your blog must contain content, and not merely advertising. This rule arose in response to an epidemic of “splogs”, counterfeit blogs which presented huge amounts of ads in the guise of reader-friendly content.
You may be thinking, “How am I going to promote my business in a blog if I can’t advertise?” But when you better understand how your blog will build an audience for your product, you’ll realize that it has very little to do with plugging your online business in veiled ways with every paragraph you write.
Do not use your blog to actively sell your products or services; use it discuss them, their uses, products with which they compete, the fields to which they are related--anything which can give your readers a broad-based look at whatever you are offering, so that they can respond with their own thoughts and suggestions.
The Blogosphere can either help or hinder you in getting your online business recognized. You won’t be able to control the reactions which your potential client base post on your blog, and they may draw attention to certain of your products’ qualities which you’d rather remained overlooked.
If you choose to ignore their comments in the hopes that they will drop the subject, your readers will notice. And they will wonder what they can expect from you in the way of customer service, should they actually purchase, and have a problem with, your product.
Your readers, and possible clients, are all part of the Blogosphere, and it would be very easy for them spread word of your indifferent or negative response to their criticisms. Stop trouble before it starts by focusing on topics that do not generate negative reactions. This approach will keep you one step ahead of your online business competitors, and those who advertise through more established media.
Building a large blog readership based on your solid reputation will give you a good SEO ranking. That’s how your blogging efforts will pay off big time. Your blog posts will show up at the top of any search engine results for queries on your online business products.
The only caution: if you do not absolutely, positively believe in the product or service you are offering through your online business, blogging will be a waste of time. Because blogging requires you to stay completely in the loop regarding what is going on with your product, you will soon tire of the effort involved. And your lack of enthusiasm will drive away your readers faster than a getaway vehicle leaves a bank robbery!

Would you like to make money blogging? There are a lot of people earning extra cash and even making a living blogging, and you can too. First, you need to come up with a topic people are interested it. The topic has to be one you know a lot about or enjoy. To become a successful blogger, you must provide useful content and update the blog regularly. You can either start your own blog, join a blog community or join a blog network.
Your Own Blog
If you want to start your own blog, there are many places to host your blog for free such as blogger.com. You can also buy your own domain from sites like godaddy.com and pay for hosting. I use hostgator.com and can highly recommend them. After setting up your blog, you can monetize traffic through Adsense, an advertising program by Google or other affiliate programs such as maxbounty or primaryads. You can also earn money by discussing advertiser products and services within blog posts through sites like payperpost.com, bloggingads.com and blogitive.com. To send traffic to your blog, you should submit it to directories, post on other people’s blogs, post on forums with your blog address in the signature, and exchange links with similar sites.
Blog Communities
The advantage of joining blog communities is that you can start getting traffic right away. Members of the blog communities will visit your blog if it appeals to them. You will be able to make money through Adsense. Your ads will be rotated 50% or more of the time while the owner’s Adsense ads rotate the other half or less. Some blog communities include blogfeast.com, bloggerparty.com, and blogcharm.com
Blog Networks
There are many advantages of joining a blog network. The blog network pays for your domain name and hosting. They setup/design the blog for you. You don’t have to work for traffic and are usually paid a specific amount each month. You can also earn a percentage of advertising revenue each month. You mainly have to focus on posting great content.
Blog Networks Currently Hiring
If you join a blog network, you’ll be able to earn a specific amount each month or a percentage of revenue generated from the blog. The following are blog networks currently hiring:
-Weblogs, Inc. is a large network with about 90 blogs. You may apply to blog on a pre-existing blog or suggest a topic for a new blog. There current blog categories include consumer, technology, travel, wireless, video games, media & entertainment, finance, and life sciences.
-Creative Weblogging is also a large network with over 90 blogs. Their current blog categories include business, economy & finance, digital media, ecommerce & internet, dreams & celebrities, technology, family & home, recreation & sports, wireless, education, life sciences, and gaming.
-b5media is a network to over 170 blogs. Their current blog categories include arts & crafts, beauty & style, business, celebrities, entertainment, family & relationships, home & dining, science & health, sports, team blogs, technology, travel & culture, video games, and writing & literature.

Why would you consider advertising on blogs? Well, blog advertising is currently one of the hottest marketing techniques available.
Advertising through blogs is much cheaper than the traditional advertising media, mainly because it is still in its infancy. Blog advertising is becoming more and more prevalent throughout the web. It's easy, convenient, cheap, and you do not require a website or any expertise in site building… the list goes on.
If you do not have a website or know how to set one up, focus all your attention on creating a strong blog design and template that draws attention. Bloggers are less inclined to link to a website that's plastered with ads and all types of hype. Most search engine visitors arrive at your website looking for specific information. Once they tag you and/or buy from you, you are very likely to get them back as repeat visitors/buyers. If a blog appeals to a visitor both through content and design, they'll be back!
Whether or not you have one or many websites, it's - from my experience - super beneficial to advertise on a blog as well. In fact the more blogs you have going and the more often you submit to them, the easier it becomes to reach your target market. You can connect speedily and economically with a like-minded audience hungry for your product. The power of advertising through your blog lies in the fact that bloggers on the whole tend to be an influential crowd of doers.
Blog advertising is the latest and most natural way to create your brand. If you want fast recognition of your products or services, then you will find this way of marketing will do it for you.
Advertising on your blogs not only is an excellent and surefire way to reach millions of readers, but it can boost your website's search engine and page rank.
Remember, the key to a successful home business is quality traffic to your website and/or blog/s.
Unlike a business website, blog advertising is a conversation. Treat your blog as an email you're sending to your best friend. And, just like a personal letter, it is important to communicate with your readers as soon as they respond to your ideas.
So, I encourage you to go ahead and think out of the box! Blogs are not just for fun anymore. Let your entrepreneurial spirit run free, and advertise.

Generally, blogs are also known as web logs. Those blogs are the fastest growing technology on the internet. With there being so many blogs on the internet right now, how do you make your blogs known and get people to read it. How do you have the most often read blog on the niche market that you are promoting? My experiences show that there are many people who are trying to all accomplish the same thing. The big issue is how you can become an outstanding among those people.
There are several things that you can do to make your blog online marketing a success, and I am going to cover some of them in this article. I am going to share you 8 basic great tips to build your own successful blogs.
1. The first thing that you should know is that you should have your blog URL pointing to your niche market. For example, if you are trying to promote and sell sunglasses from your blog, you want your URL to say www.sunglasses.blogurl.com. Doing so will give you an extra advantage.
The free blog platform is rarely in my home based internet marketing business. Personally, I believe that the reliability will realize on your blog platform as well. Many people use the free blog platforms for their home based internet marketing business, which I don’t recommend you to use them.
2. The next step you should do in your blog online marketing is to customize your own blog. Rather than having the same old blog interface like everyone else has, make your unique and interesting to look at. There are so many types of blog software on the market that having your own look should not be that difficult to accomplish.
3. Obviously it appears that the keyword research is another very important element of your blog online marketing. If you are not using the keywords on which people search, then no one is going to find your blogs. I recommend you to have variety of niche keywords in your blog. It should not just the same one over and over. Not everyone just uses the term ‘sunglasses’ when they are searching for shades to keep the sun out of their eyes. Remember, the effective keyword research is an important factor to drive more traffic to your blogs.
4. In general, using SEO on your blog, which stands for search engine optimization, is a great idea as well. SEO will help get your blog out there and read, and will also help you get a better ranking with Google. Being as high as you can be in the Google search engine results is something that you want.
5. Exchanging the link among other blogs is a great approach to grow your blog’s popularity. Find other sites and blogs that are in the same market as yours, but not in direct competition with you to exchange links with. This will help you out a lot as well, especially if you can get some good exchanges with high authority sites. The higher the page rank of your link exchange, the better for your blog.
6. Many internet entrepreneurs do not realize this, but having a different title tag in the HTML code on each page makes a big difference. If you have given the first page on your blog the title of ‘sunglasses’, you need to be sure that none of your other pages are named this. Doing so will make Google think that you are spamming that keyword, and that will result in them punishing your blog URL.
7. When you have done your own keyword research, you will want to write content based on the research you have done. Using one or two keywords, make entries into your blog using the keywords will make it easy for your blog to be indexed under those terms. That will also result in people searching on those particular terms able to find your blog.
8. At last, pinging your blog frequently is another great way to have your blog seen. Every time that you update it, use the ping tools to ping it. This will let all of the blog directories know that you have added something new to your blog. This also brings you in some more traffic.
Final thoughts, I strongly believe that blog online marketing is pretty much the same as website marketing. However, if you have never had a website and are not familiar with marketing, the above great tips will help you get started. Be sure that you put new entries into your blog on a regular basis as well. This will help keep you up to date and current and also will keep your readers coming back for more.

Getting your blog off the ground is not as tricky as people make it out to be. If you follow some really basic steps then it can be as eating a piece of pie. I have found a couple great blogs that have taught be something very unique and extremely rare. What I have learned will benefit any and every blogger out there. Read on to find out more.
If you talk to bloggers about how many readers they had from the word go most of them will say absolutely NONE. They will tell you that it takes weeks if not months to get a small, simple blog off the ground and get people reading, reviewing, and subscribing to your blog. How would you like it if I told you that you did not have to weeks promoting your blog? How would you like it if you didn't even have to spend days promoting your blog?
Well I am going to tell you how you can get hundreds if not a thousand visitors to your blog in its first week. There are a few things that you will have to do. The steps are really simple to follow and you can either do it in one big load in one day or you can spread it out spending no more than half an hour or so a day over the span of about a couple weeks for best results.
Content
Many bloggers will start out with one to five post on their first day and then post once a day or week. This is the first thing that they are doing wrong to get their blog off the ground. You ask all of the bloggers that have done this and they will tell you that it took a week to a month before they started to get readers.
Having five posts when your blog is started is not enough to get people to hang around and keep reading. You have to have enough posts pre-written so by the time your blog goes live you can post them all one after another. This will allow a visitor to be able to have a look around at what your writing and the more they read the higher the chance that they will subscribe or come back for more.
To get returning visitors from the start you have to have ATLEAST 20-30 post pre-written and ready to post as soon as your blog goes live. If you have 20-30 quality posts ready to go you can be assured that your visitors will stick around and read.
Tagging
While researching blogs and blog promotion I came across something called Technorati Tagging. I had never seen this before and I didn't have a clue what they did so I looked into it further. I found out that Technorati Tags are actually able to deliver mass amounts of traffic. They way it works is as your writing your post when you come across a word that could categorize your post you add [tag] and close the word with a [/tag) (change the ) with a ]) around it. This will 'tag' that word and once your blog is pinged to Technorati your blog will be placed under the category of that word. When someone searches a word that you have tagged your blog will show up.
Social Bookmarking
You will definitely see results by social bookmarking. It is very simple and all it requires is a little time. All you simply have to do is notify them of your post :O that sounds so hard. I managed to find a great list of the best social bookmarking sites. Take your pick of these top 20. They are all great and will improve your search engine results greatly.

So you have this really great idea to start a blog on a particular niche. And perhaps, maybe you even want to make some revenue off of AdSense, Clicksor, or other contextual advertising. Super. You’ve wrote your heart out and posted some blog content. Great! No problems there. But what do you do to keep the content fresh and insightful? Are you feeling that the content you offer on your blog just "lacks"? Is your blog boring? Maybe you can’t even pinpoint what exactly is "lacking", but you just feel it. Possibly, you just do not have the time to put forth to writing 1000 word articles every couple days. If this is you, it is time you look into using other people’s articles!
"WHAT?" you say. No, I am not suggesting you steal or copy others articles. However, I am suggesting that you utilize websites that offer free web content on your particular niche. There are many free web content sites or ‘article directories’ that offer free articles for you to use on your blog or website. You are able to use these articles totally free without a problem. The only thing you are required is to give credit to the author who wrote the article. Fair enough?
Now you ask, "Why would I want to use someone else’s articles? How lame is that?!" It’s actually not lame at all. Think about it. There are thousands of other people offering new, unique insight on exactly what you are writing about. You will find that people offer a different point of view or perspective on the particular subject. A different perspective or a new idea can be very refreshing for your blog. To even go further, find those articles that offer new thoughts and respond to the author’s thoughts.
Consider the benefits of using free content articles for your blog or website:
How do you find quality free web content for your blog? When you find an article that you would like to put on your website, make sure you are permitted to actually use it. You can usually find that information right on the article page or the website’s terms of service. When you are positive that you can use the article, read it over to make sure it is even applicable to your website. Do run it through a spell check to make sure that level of quality is portrayed in the article. If there are a bunch of errors, do not change the errors because that would violate the terms for the article. Instead, move on to finding another article. So do some searching and reading. Find that interesting web content and post that interesting web content for your readers! Delight your readers with something interesting and exciting!

Keeping people interested in your blog, whether it is a business or personal blog, is key to attracting a lot of regular visitors. Many blogs have died because people have just lost interest. The main reason for the lack of interest is simply a lack of posts by the blogger. Regular, frequent posting, which will boost your blog’s ranking in search engines, is essential to the survival of any blog.
What is frequent posting?
Frequent blog posting is posting enough to keep your readers interested. Obviously, people will not want to come back to a blog that hasn’t been updated in months. They want to see consistent posting so that they know coming back to check the blog next week to see if there are more posts won’t be a waste of time.
How many blog entries should I make each week?
This is one of the tougher questions to answer. It really depends on the purpose of your blog. If it’s a personal blog, a weekly or twice weekly update is an excellent idea. A political/sports/music/religion blog should have 3-4 posts per week. Business blogs should have at least 2 posts, but preferably 4 each week.
The thing to remember is that quality counts. Posting frequently just for the sake of posting frequently tends to result in sub par posts which people won’t care about. It is important to find a balance—frequent, quality posts that won’t result in burnout on your part. Why create 4 poor quality posts each week when you could post 2 quality posts per week?
How do I create quality postings on a consistent basis?
It’s all about following a consistent pattern of writing. Maybe you’re not a natural writer and this is difficult. That’s why we’ll give you an outline to help you.
1. Pick a topic that is interesting to you and to your readers. Maybe if your blog is a personal blog, you could write about the latest happenings in Hollywood.
2. Carefully think about what you’ll write about the topic. It makes it easy to make quality blog postings if you know exactly what you’ll write. Plot out everything about the post before even beginning to write it.
3. Before writing your content, pick out some keywords that are relevant to your blog. If you naturally use keywords throughout your post, you will please search engine spiders which will get your blog ranked higher on search engines. Your visitors won’t mind the use of keywords if they are used in a tasteful way.
4. Begin writing your post. Don’t limit yourself to a particular amount of words. Just do what’s natural. And if any blog post is hard for you, just take a timeout and relax. You should be able to finish the post a bit later on, after you’ve had some time to think things through, you should be able to finish the post with no problems.
Why is frequent posting important?
Blogs are meant to be outlets for individuals or businesses. They are used to get an opinion out on something and to engage readers. Readers need to have something that makes them want to keep coming back to a blog. That something is usually quality, frequent posts.
Gaining and maintaining visitors isn’t the only reason to post often in your blog. Catching the eye of a search engine—and achieving a high ranking—is another valid reason for posting frequently. Most likely, each posting in your blog features some keywords or keyword phrases scattered throughout it. Logic says that the more natural keywords you have on a blog, the better. Thus, the more posts you make on your blog, the more keywords you have on there. And the more keywords you have, the more likely a search engine bot is to crawl your site. The more your site is crawled by bots, the more likely it is that you will have a high ranking on a search engine.
Frequent blog posting can be easy as long as the person who is posting takes the time to plot out what they’ll write about. So take a few minutes to think about your post and then just do it!

Well that’s fine because a lot of bloggers don’t quite understand pinging. In this newsletter, we will explain what pinging is, how it helps your blog, and what the best pinging services are. After you’ve read this newsletter, you’ll know exactly how to use pinging to make your blog popular.
What is pinging?
When a blog is pinged, it essentially tells a web blog tracking system that the blog has been updated. Thus, pinging is the process of telling tracking services that a site has been updated.
So how does pinging work? Well, a ping service scans regularly blogs for updates. Whenever there is a new update for a particular blog that is reported back to the pinging service’s site. You can almost think of ping services being just like search engine spiders—both scan sites looking for information, and both report that information back to their specific site. The difference is, a ping service only reports back new blog posts.
Why is pinging useful for my blog?
Pinging, in effect, tells people that there is a new blog posting available. Those who are loyal followers of your blog will see the ping and want to visit your blog. Those who haven’t read your blog before will see the ping and perhaps think “hey, there’s a new blog I haven’t been to before, I think I’ll check it out”. Pinging helps to increase your traffic because it tells people when your blog is updated. Those who visit sites with pinging services will see this information in the form of a scroll on the left or right side, or top of the page. The scroll is usually in XML format and typically includes the title and URL of your blog, as well as the date and time of the update.
OK, so now I know what pinging is. Who offers pinging?
The answer is, there are several pinging services available which you can use to have your blog pinged. We’ll go over some of them right now.
Weblogs.com
Weblogs.com is probably the most well-known pinging service. Weblogs.com monitors sites for updates and then pings whenever there is an update to report. Virtually every blog software is available to use Weblogs.
Yahoo’s Blo.gs
Another popular pinging service being offered by Yahoo has a built-in integration with movable type and other tools. One cool thing about this service is that it offers the ability to give out updates via Instant Messaging services like AOL and ICQ. It is a direct pinging service, so those who sign up for subscriptions to your blog will be sent an email anytime your blog is updated.
Blogrolling.com
Blogrolling allows its bloggers to manage their blogrolls (updates) through a web-based interface. Recently updated blogs are also highlighted on Blogrolling’s web site. Data is automatically retrieved from other sites like blogger.com and weblogs.com every 5 minutes. Often times your blog is already being pinged by Blogrolling, so you might not have to sign up for it. Search on the site first for your URL before signing it up.
Technorati
Available at http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping, Technorati is another service that pings blogs. It gets its data from a variety of places and is definitely a site you should go to for blog pinging.
These are just 4 of the many different blog pinging services available. A quick search on Yahoo or Google will reveal many other possible blog pinging services to use for your blog. It is best to sign up for as many as you possibly can to ensure that your blog is well-pinged. A well-pinged blog will definitely help your blog attract more visitors. So sign up for as many as possible and watch your blog traffic increase.
Pinging tells people when your blog is updated. It is an incredibly useful, and easy to sign up for service, so be sure to sign your blog up for pinging!

If not, that’s alright, as most people don’t quite understand how trackbacks work and why they are useful for a blog. In this newsletter, we’re going to go over trackbacks—what they are, how they work, why they are important to blog traffic, and how to get more trackbacks. After you’ve read this, you’ll know practically everything there is to know about trackbacks.
What are trackbacks?
The concept of trackbacks is a bit hard to explain. So we’ll use an example to explain it in the best way possible.
OK, say you see a great blog post on another person’s blog and want to link to it on your blog. You could do this the old-fashioned way by manually putting a link on your site to that blog. However, if you do it this way, the person whose blog post you are linking to won’t know that you are linking to them unless you tell them.
This is where trackbacks come in. A trackback is a program which will notify the owner of a blog when one of their posts has been linked to at another blog.
How do they work?
A blog that has a trackback system set up will have a link at the bottom of every blog post. This link will say something like “Blog This!” Anyone who clicks the link can then put a link to that blog post on their site. The person who posted the original blog will then be notified via email that their blog posting has been linked to. Additionally, the link that was clicked(“Blog This!”) will change to “Trackbacks”. From that point forward, the “Trackbacks” link will keep track of how many people have chosen to blog about that particular post. So after the first trackback, it will say “Trackbacks: 1”. The number of trackbacks recorded will be updated as they occur.
Why are trackbacks important to blog traffic?
The easy answer is that trackbacks are important because they increase awareness of your blog. Trackbacks also make a blog seem more credible. After all, people have to think your posts are good enough to be trackbacked.
Anytime a person makes a trackback on your blog, they make a post on their own blog about your blog. This, in turn, lets their readers know about your blog. Chances are, their readers will want to visit your blog to see what the big deal is. If they see something on your blog that they like, they’ll keep coming back for more, which means you’ll have a whole new fanbase of readers. That means more traffic for your blog.
Can you imagine what would happen if 5 different bloggers trackbacked a post on your blog? Depending on how popular their blog is, that’s potentially as much as hundreds of new readers for your blog! Pretty incredible, right?
Also, every trackback made, assuming it is a legitimate one (and some trackbacks are spam, especially if they are there only to link to another site) adds credibility to your blog. Blogs with high amounts of trackbacks look credible because lots of people like the posts enough to trackback them.
How can I increase the number of trackbacks I get?
The easiest and best way to increase trackbacks is to frequently post. If you post frequently (2-3 times a week), people will have quite a few posts that they can trackback. However, it is important to make sure that your posts are of a good quality. Quality blog posts are those that people can relate to and are easy to read. If you post a long boring rant, people probably won’t want to trackback that. But if you post a decent sized rant that is entertaining (and that people are likely to agree with), you’ll get trackbacked.
The number of trackbacks you get is totally dependent on the number of visitors your blog receives and how frequently you are able to make quality posts. If you’ve got a good amount of visitors and write good blog posts, you’ll get trackbacks.
Trackbacks are a wonderful thing for every blog. You are able to know when your blog posting has been posted about at another blog, plus you potentially gain more visitors. It’s a win-win situation for you!

If you run a site and are looking to get it listed quickly on search engines, there really is no easier and quicker way than to also put a blog on the site. It is a known fact that search engine spiders from sites like Google and Altavista list new blogs much faster than they list new sites. However, it’s not as simple as just creating a blog and letting it sit there. You have to also use tactics like pinging, linking and the use of keywords. We’ll go over each so that you are able to effectively use your blog for a quick site listing. We’ll also briefly go over how to host your own blog on your site.
So how do I host my own blog, anyway?
The easiest way to do this is to install and run a blogging software from another company on your web site’s server. One such software that is popular is WordPress. It’s fairly easy to install and works pretty good on your site. Other blogging software options include:
Apache Roller
Blosxom
Geeklog
Textpattern
LifeType
Whatever one you choose, be sure to follow the instructions provided by the company so that the installation goes smoothly.
Where should I put my blog on my site?
Most people who host their blog to help their site get listed quickly don’t put the blog on the main page of the site, because the site isn’t all about the blog. Instead they put it in its own folder at mysite.com/blog/. But you can really put your blog anywhere on your site, so it’s your call.
What is pinging?
It’s a question that many ask, so don’t feel silly if you don’t know what pinging is. Pinging is essentially a tracking program installed on your blog that will notify the site which it is from whenever your blog is updated. Search engine spiders usually visit newly pinged sites most often, which is why pinging is such a crucial part of the equation to get your site listed quickly. Sites that are newly “pinged” will be visited by search engine spiders. A visit from the spider equals a listing on the search engine.
How do I get pinging on my blog?
You’ll have to register with a site that offers weblog pinging. The most popular pinging program around is weblogs.com. Other programs offered include Yahoo’s Blo.gs, BlogRolling, and Technorati. Once you’ve decided on a pinging service, you’ll have to follow the instructions to install it on your blog. When you’ve done that, your blog will start getting pinged and visited by search engine spiders.
What is linking?
Linking is basically having another blog or site link to your blog. When search engine spiders visit that site and see a link to your site, they’ll visit your site. Linking is effective both for sites with blogs and those without it.
How do I get linking?
You get it by visiting sites/blogs that are relevant to what your site is about. Then you contact the owners of those sites/blogs, asking them to post a link to your site on their site. In return, you will probably have to link to their site on your site. That way, both of you are able to benefit from the linking.
Why is the use of keywords important to my blog?
Spiders love to visit sites with a good amount of keywords. People who read your site won’t mind the use of keywords if they are lightly spread throughout the content of your pages. The key to this is to make a list of keywords relevant to your blog posting and then to try to use those keywords throughout your content. It is important to make sure, however, not to overuse keywords. Spiders have been trained to ignore sites with excessive amounts of keywords, so if you use a whole lot of keywords in the hopes of getting spiders to visit your site, it’s not going to do you any good. Generally speaking, using between 2-6 keywords per 200 word piece of content is a good ratio. It’s pleasing to both readers and search engine spiders.
That’s really all there is to it. Apply the above techniques to your blog and you will net your site a quick search engine listing.
There is no quicker way to get your site listed than to use a blog. So install a blog on your site today and you’ll be listed sooner than you could have imagined!

Blog owners want to know how to increase traffic. Increasing traffic is actually easier than it seems—provided you know how. In this newsletter, we will go over 7 specific methods of increasing traffic. These are guaranteed methods to draw more visitors to your blog.
Tip #1: Sign up for pinging services
It seems pretty obvious, but most bloggers, even those who are more experienced, don’t sign up for pinging services. If you’re new to blogging and don’t know what pinging means, pinging basically means that when your blog is updated, a “ping” is sent out by the service to let pinging sites know that your blog has been updated. People who are visiting sites with pinging services will then see your blog flash across the side of the screen as “newly updated”. Pinging services include Yahoo’s blogs, weblogs.com, Google Blog search, and ZingFast.
Tip #2: Sign up for Technorati
If you go to technorati.com, you’ll see an option on the left side of the screen to “Claim Your Blog”. Doing so allows you to get updated link counts, add your photo or branding to Technorati, and see your Technorati link. Having your blog claimed on Technorati helps to increase traffic because the millions of people who go to that site will have a chance to see your blog on there.
Tip #3: Sign up for FeedBurner, a RSS service
What FeedBurner basically does for your blog is it helps you to promote your blog’s content, build your audience and measure your audience. In other words, it helps you increase your blog’s traffic.
Tip #4: Bookmark your blogs at places like del.icio.us
You can set up an account and profile at del.icio.us. Then, using that, you can add links to your blog along with excerpts from your blog. Anytime someone visits your profile on del.icio.us, they will see a link to your blog and excerpts. There are other social bookmarking sites that you can use in much the same way. The bottom line is, using these social bookmarking sites can help you increase traffic.
Tip #5: Post comments at other blogs
No, this doesn’t mean you should go and spam other blogs with comments that are only there to promote a site. It means that you should visit similar blogs to your own, post legitimate comments and then sign your name(along with a link to your blog). This way, people know you aren’t there just to promote your site—you’re there to post a good piece of feedback and also say where you’re from.
Tip #6: Ask owners of other blogs to post a link to yours
Find other blogs that are similar to yours. If they seem to be decently popular(that is, they have a good amount of comments for each post), you can try to contact the owner of the blog to add a link to your blog if they have a links section. To make them really want to do this, you can offer to link back to their blog on your blog. People do this reciprocal blog linking all the time and it does help to increase traffic.
Tip #7: Use keywords in your blog
Like regular web pages, having a good keyword density on a blog is a terrific way of getting search engine spiders to notice your page. (FYI: Search engine spiders are programs from search engines that browse sites and report back their findings to the search engine database, which then lists that site. The more keywords on your site, the more likely it is for a search engine spider to pay a visit)
If your average blog posting is around 200 words, try to use 2-6 keywords per blog post. 2-6 keywords in a blog posting of 200 words is a keyword density of between 1 and 3 percent, a respectable number. Remember that you don’t want to use too many keywords, as that will make your blog look bad. Also be sure that the keywords used are relevant to your blog. Before even making a blog posting, decide what the post will be about and then select a keyword or two to use in your post. Then do it. It’s a surefire way of getting more traffic to your site!

Whenever there is a new update for a particular blog, that is reported back to the pinging service’s site.
Yahoo’s Blogs
Another popular pinging service. This one is offered by Yahoo and has a built-in integration with movable type and other tools. One cool thing about this service is that it offers the ability to give out updates via Instant Messaging services like AOL and ICQ. It is a direct pinging service, so those who sign up for subscriptions to your blog will be sent an email anytime your blog is updated.
Blogrolling.com
Blogrolling allows its bloggers to manage their blogrolls(updates) through a web-based interface.
So sign up for as many as possible and watch your blog traffic increase.

Getting the best, latest and most successful knowledge is important in any sphere of life and busiess. Blogging is not an exclusion from this list: many people start blogging thinking about instant success or easy job, and then some become very successful, some - not.
That is why it is very wise to use the knowledge of experts who already have gained success and have passed through their own mistakes, explaining how to avoid them.
How to Get the Latest Secrets of Blogging Gurus - Legally?
# 1. Blogging Forums and Communities.
These are the places where not only experts can dwell, but also of inexperienced people doing their first steps in blogging. Join - some of them are free - and don't be shy to ask. It is better to ask questions then to pretend that you can do something.
There is no guarantee that your posts in forums and communities will give you the answer. Some of the posts may remain unanswered, but still the public on blogging forums and communities are quite friendly and helpful.
# 2. Products of Blogging Gurus.
There is a pack of people today who are quite successful in blogging (for profit, for a hobby - doesn't matter). Some of them sell informational products where they share personal experience. Some create tools, plugins, invent new features and add new options to best blogging platforms.
These always create something, and - definitely - the purchase of their products will be a nice investment into knowledge and instruments of success. But there is one fault - before you pay and try, you cannot say if it works. So you venture money on the brand of guru.
# 3. Publicity Spots.
This is an informational alternative. Some online projects create "publicity spots" on different topics. For example, 20 blog gurus are asked questions and interviewed on the answers, recorded and published for free in the net.
As in the format of the interview gurus become closer to people, they do not feel unfit talking about their mistakes and biggest successes, what helps them and what caused problems.
A nice free chance to learning the latest from the blogging elite of success.

A blog or web log is a place on the Internet where you can air your views, opinions and ideas on any topic under the sun. It is also being widely used to promote products and services, and for good reason-- For low start-up investment, you get to promote and publicize your thing to a wide audience base. And search engines like Google are nowadays promoting blogs, like Google is doing it for web logs on Blogger.
Publishing a blog allows you to create new web pages loaded with info the average visitor to the web may find useful. The more information the visitor gets, the more trust you form in his mind. The info on your blog relates to your website, your product or service. That may get picked up by search engines, and that, in turn, will increase your Internet presence. This ultimately leads to an increase in terms of the perceived authenticity in the visitor's mind, which may translate to a rise in the number of click-throughs you get by way of the contextual links your blog carries
And the more you update your blog on a regular basis, the more readily is it picked up by the search engine directories for the sheer utility and uniqueness of the content you provide. So, roll up your sleeves to keep your blog updated with the latest!
Just compare your blog profile appearing on a major search engine to banner advertising-- while advertisement, to the average visitor, appears no less or no more than a sales pitch to which the visitor is generally skeptical, he gains access to the results on the search engine while he is actually looking for them-- so he is in a much more positive frame of mind.
In fact, publishing your blog is like buying keywords on search engines like Google for free, nada, zilch! And if you choose to SEO (search engine optimise) your pages on the blog, all the better! With a bit of foresight, you can supercharge your business with your blog with simply no out-of-the-pocket expenses!

Any business model can benefit from adding a Web log to their domain.
There is certainly nothing new about the concept of blogging, and yet many business owners and Internet entrepreneurs don’t seem to grasp the power of this simple strategy. This is evidenced by the fact that many business Websites do not include a blog.
If you run a business site, but do not currently have a blog, there is a great chance that you are leaving money on the table. Regardless of what kind of business you are in, a dynamic and interactive Web log will improve customer response and add profits to your bottom line.
Consider this:
When you use a Web log as the platform for your newsletter or ezine, you can post each of your promotions to the web, and then invite your subscribers to your blog to view your most recent update. When readers follow the link from your email to your latest blog post, they will not only have the opportunity to respond to the current promotion, they will be able to browse your blog and take action on offers you made last week, last month, even last year.
Quite often when I mail my list about my latest blog post, I end up making new sales on a promotion I did some time ago. And since my blog is linked to all of my other web sites, it’s easy for me to generate traffic for multiple products and services with just one mailing.
And blogging is a great way to generate new Web traffic for your domain. By setting your blog software to ‘ping’ search and directory portals each time you make a post, you can alert a large number of people about your new content with the single click of a button.
Also, search engines are more likely to spider your site on a regular basis if you update your content frequently. With blog software, making changes to the text on your web pages is as simple as sending an email; you just fill in a subject line and post body, and then click ‘submit’.
You can even configure your blog so readers are able to leave comments and questions about your articles. They don’t have to take the time to send you an email, they can just click on the comments link and post their feedback right there on the spot. This is one of the easiest ways possible to encourage productive interaction among your prospects and customers.
Blogging requires no special technical knowledge. Sure there is an advanced side to this marketing strategy, but just adding a Web log to your domain and making posts on a regular basis can improve your traffic flow and customer response tremendously.

Blog Content - Whats the Importance Of Fresh and Updated Content
0 comments Posted by Danz Kyo at 6:35 PMThe most important part of owning a successful blog that Search Engines will love and that will have your readers coming back to your blog again is to constantly add fresh, quality content. For people who love to write, adding quality content to their blog on a regular basis is not a problem. If you're not very fond of writing, creating great content for your blog on a regular basis can be a bit of a hassle.
The trick is knowing how to create quality content that doesn't involve you sitting on your computer researching and editing for hours just to produce a few paragraphs of content. Some enterprising blog owners who don't have the time or skill to create their own content, add content to their blogs by posting informative articles from article directories. Using articles from article directories is okay for your human readers but not so good for the Search Engines.
Here's why:
1. Search Engines view the articles as duplicate content and your blog is penalized with lower Search Engine rankings
2. The articles can not be rewritten by anyone other than the original author and the resource box must be posted with the article itself (the resource box is the reason the articles are freely available in the first place).
Fortunately there are alternative ways of adding quality content to your blog that satisfies the demands of both the Search Engines and your human readers and at the same time does not necessitate you writing the content yourself.
Here's how:
Purchase Private Label Rights (PLR) articles related to your topic. Like articles found at article directories, PLR articles are available on just about any topic you can imagine. Unlike the articles found at article directories, however, PLR articles give you full ownership rights and you can do just about anything you like with them. In order to purchase PLR articles for use as blog content you will generally either need to join a PLR membership 23
site (requires a monthly fee) or browse the special offers section of forums. PLR articles sold through forums are typically inexpensive, but their quality is not always the best. Once you have purchased the articles you like you will then need to rewrite them a little bit before adding them to your blog. You don't need to rewrite the entire article, only about 20-25% of it.

There are several ways to make your blog one of the hot blogs online. Traditionally, those companies that have the largest star-power have had the most popular blogs, since everyone loves to read about celebrity or success. However, a great many smaller companies and individuals are developing large followings on the web. You can, too, with this simple lesson.
Keep it Rich
Keyword-rich, that is. Blogs are a great way to generate keyword-rich content, especially if you update your blogs each day. In fact, for some smaller businesses, blogs make more sense than hard-to-create web pages. Blog software makes creating a blog almost automatic while the spiders on search engines seem to favour high-quality and often updated keyword-rich blogs.
Steps to take:
Keep keyword content high with plenty of keywords. As you write your blog entries, do try to use not only keywords having to do with your topic, but also synonyms for your keywords. This will help your readers find you more easily on the Internet. For example, if you offer discount fashions, use a variety of keywords, including discount fashions, cheap designer wear, discount clothing and others.
Provide quality, often-updated content.
Specialize. The best way to make use of the search engine optimisation of blogs is to narrow your focus. Rather than developing a hodgepodge of ideas and themes, write with one theme in mind. It will help ensure that people looking for information on your topic will always find you through a search engine.
Join the Community
Make sure that you promote your blog by joining the blogging community. Creating a larger presence for your blog online will result in more blog readers and possibly, more customers:
Add the address for your blog to email signatures and include mention in any ezine or email newsletter you have to let readers know about your blog.
Mention your blog on appropriate forums. For example, if your company offers resume writing services, consider writing about your blog in job-hunt forums.
Allow for readers’ commentary on your blog. Many online blog publishing programs already allow this. If your readers can post their comments and read the comments of other readers, they are more likely to return to your blog regularly, and so keep your company name in mind.
Make your blog searchable through your interests. Many blog programs allow you to create a user profile, which allows readers to search for you and your blog by interest topic and locations, in many cases. Do not overlook this simple way to draw readers. Simply fill out your profile, taking care to use many interests to attract more readers and browsers. Do you play world of warcraft? Have you heard about the burning crusade? Are you sick and tired of running around being poor while other players get epic mounts and the most expensive gear?
